Annette Weighs In - kind of

I only have a few minutes so I will post my review in a few days. But for now I had some thoughts/questions I thought we could "discuss". Maybe you have a few, too!

Of the characters in the bookstore (not counting Rosemary) who did you think was:
a) the most interesting
b) the one you'd most like to have lunch with
c) the one you'd most like to throw the book at

What do you think happened to Oscar and why? Why do you think the author doesn't tell us?

Okay (a) I thought Geist was the most interesting until the book was coming to a close. I always root for the underdog, and I kind of liked him, not just curiosity, but really liked him/wanted Rosemary to like him too. (b) I would most like to have lunch with Mr. Mitchell, I believe. Like Keri, I love it when older gentlemen dote on me like I'm a relative, call me sweetie or dear. It makes me feel special. Plus, his knowledge of rare books would be so neat to sit and talk about (okay, so I'd probably not be talking as much as listening to his "lecture", but I'm a student-type and like that kind of thing). (c) I wanted to throw the book at Rosemary, actually. Though (see my comment on Aunt Annette's post) I did come to understand/appreciate her point of view a bit more, I still think she was a little TOO blind to the facts.

I'm guessing Oscar took off out of the city and started investingating other parts of the world. He needed new subjects for his notebook. :o) I'm not sure why the author chose not to tell us... any thoughts from you smarter book club people?
